Set in the picturesque medieval village of Little Walsingham, a place of pilgrimage since the eleventh century, the Abbey Grounds contain the remains of the famous Augustinian Priory. Although little now remains of the priory, the great east window is perhaps the most striking feature and along with the refectory walls, remains of the west tower and monks bath, give an impression of the size and scale of the original building. Visitors can enjoy the tranquil gardens and over the ancient packhorse bridge, the river and woodland walks lead into unspoilt natural woods and parkland. Entrance to the grounds in the summer is through the Shirehall Museum - a Georgian Magistrates court, now a 'hands-on' museum detailing the history of this interesting village. During the snowdrop season the Abbey Grounds are home to one of the most popular and impressive displays of snowdrops in the country. Member of the HHA.
