If you’re searching for something different to entertain the children why not take off to the Royal Air Force Museum in Colindale and navigate your way through the history of aviation from the earliest balloon flight to the latest Eurofighter? This world-class collection of over 100 aircraft, and aviation memorabilia offers a fun day out for all the family. Don’t forget to visit the Museum’s 3D cinema or awe inspiring sound and light show ‘Our Finest Hour’ playing on the hour, every hour from 1pm to 5pm in the museum’s Battle of Britain Hall which will transport them back in time to the summer of 1940 or our interactive gallery specially designed for children ‘Aeronauts’.

New for 2011 - Enter the next dimension with our 4D Theatre and discover how it feels to actually glide amongst the clouds. Then step back in time to the pioneering days of Hendon Airfield by visiting our newest gallery, the Grahame-White Watch Office. Don’t forget to check the Museum’s website in advance of your visit to see what free activities are taking place, particularly if you’re visiting during the school holidays or at a weekend.

The museum is open 10am – 6pm Monday to Sunday and, best of all, entrance is free. Facilities include baby changing rooms, plus free wheelchairs (advance booking required).
