Explore York's Viking history on the very site where archaeologists uncovered remains of the Viking-Age City of 'Jorvik'. Get face-to-face with our expert Viking residents, see over 800 artefacts, excavated between 1976-1981 magically brought to life by talking Viking Ghosts in our exhibition - 'Artefacts Alive!' and learn what life was really like in our special exhibitions. Our new exhibition, 'Are you a Viking?' brings together bio-scientific and artefact evidence to determine if visitors could have Viking ancestors. 'Unearthed' tells how the people of York lived - and died - as revealed by real bone material. JORVIK also takes visitors through a reconstruction of the actual Viking-Age streets which stood here 1,000 years ago, faithfully recreated following twenty years of archaeological and historical research.
