Explore one of England's most diverse wetland sites - one of the very few surviving remnants of the Great Fen of East Anglia and one of the oldest nature reserves in the country. Wicken Fen is a haven for birds, plants, insects, mammals and humans alike. Take in the wide droves, lush green paths and boardwalk nature trail and take a walk on the wild side! Visit Fen Cottage and discover what life was like as a fen labourer, or enjoy a relaxing journey through the Fen by boat (summer weekends). The new all-weather boardwalk allows you to enjoy the site all year round and with over 550 hectares to explore, nine bird hides, wild Konik ponies and over 7,000 species of wildlife, you are sure to have a wild adventure! New in 2008 - displays of reed, sedge and peat tell the story of the fen's social history before the onset of industrial-scale fenland drainage.
