Built in 1805, this is Dickens' birthplace and early home. Restored and furnished to illustrate middle-class taste of the early nineteenth century, the museum displays items pertaining to Dickens' work and the couch on which he died. There are Dickens' readings at 15.00 on the first Sunday of each month.
