Spend a day at the magnificent Bowes Museum. The first site of the impressive French style chateau never ceases to amaze and with its wonderful history and outstanding treasures there is something to inspire and entertain everyone. The collections of European fine and decorative arts is regarded as one of the greatest in the UK, with thousands of objects offering an intriguing story, including the famous Silver Swan automaton which delights visitors of all ages. You can find out more about the collections and how they are conserved through lots of hands on activities ranging from dressing up to fun interactives. Set within beautiful gardens and parkland, there is plenty to do outside too. The Museum also curates an acclaimed exhibition programme throughout the year and presents a series of events for all the family.  Don't miss 'Alfred Sisley: Impressionist Landscapes' running from 17 May-21 Sept. The fabulous building is also home to the popular Café Bowes and gift shop, offering the perfect end to your visit.
