Where Elizabethan history began. Celebrated Jacobean House and Tudor Old Palace steeped in Elizabethan and Victorian political history in a spectacular countryside setting. Built in 1607 and home of a Cecil family for 400 years. The Royal Palace of Hatfield (c1485) in the West Garden is where Elizabeth I spent her childhood and held her first council in 1558. Enjoy the scented garden; Knot garden, elegant parterres and borders. Picnic tables and children's play area in the extensive park. Dogs welcome in the Park. Licensed restaurant and gift shop open daily. Unique venue for weddings, parties and corporate hospitality in the Old Palace and Riding School conference centre.
