Description: A beautiful Elizabethan Hall with award-winning gardens. The same family has lived in the Hall since it was built four hundred years ago. They have filled it with treasures, ranging from magnificent Elizabethan carvings and plasterwork to modern French Impressionist paintings, contemporary furniture and tapestries. Lawns, clipped ewe bushes and beautiful woodland gardens surround the Hall. The old Elizabethan walled garden is a unique wonderland containing over four thousand different plants, a potager (vegetable garden) filled with herbs and vegetables, giant board games, herbaceous borders, a maze, fruit beds, a jungle garden, and a national collection of campanulas. In our courtyard you'll find plants and dried flowers from the walled garden, imaginative gifts, and a children's play area. Our 'Farmers' Food Store' is packed with seasonal Yorkshire produce including our own game, fruit and vegetables. Enjoy freshly prepared meals in the Impressionists' Café and indulgent treats in our ice cream parlour.
