Location: The best routes from the M1 area, North bound - leave at Junction 15 - A45 to Northampton, A43 to Kettering, South bound - leave at Junction 19 - A14 to Kettering, from A1 North bound, A14 (M1/A1 Link Road) to Kettering, from A1 South bound, A43 from Stamford to Kettering. Rail: Kettering is on the main St Pancras to Sheffield line. The Museum and Art Gallery is situated next to the Market Place, by the Parish Church, about 5 mins walk from the railway station and close to a main car park which is accessed via London Rd.
The Museum has many temporary exhibitions throughout the year, its permanent displays are packed with fascinating objects in a broad range of topics. The current size of the collections is thought to total circa 20,000 artifacts. This includes items which were made or used within the geographical area of Kettering Borough from social and industrial history, geology, natural history and coins. Regular activities and a "hands-on" approach to history make this a lively and vibrant place to visit, appealing to children and adults alike. The Museum shop is well stocked with educational and fun gift items related to the themes of the Museum. A perfect place to buy a unique treat. The Alfred East Art Gallery hosts a continuous series of exhibitions by local and national artists. The permanent exhibition gallery displays, amongst other pieces, important works by Sir Alfred East and Thomas Cooper Gotch, both born in Kettering.
